Why I Work for PFAS: Meet Wendy

Letโ€™s hear from our colleagues!ย

In this edition of our Why I Work for PFAS series, we hear from Wendy Galvin, Service Delivery Manager, about her journey into the organisation and why she believes PFAS is a place where clinicians can build a long-term, supported career.

She touches on teamwork and wellbeing being visible in the day-to-day experience of staff โ€” from organised wellbeing initiatives to the consistent feedback shared across teams. Wendy also shares top tips for Functional Assessors coming into the business, read on to hear her story!

Introduce yourself?

โ€œHi, my name is Wendy Galvin. I’m one of the service delivery managers. I actually joined Atos Assessment Services 1st of July 2024 and then I transitioned or to put across to PFAS on the 9th of September 2024.โ€

Why did you join PFAS?

โ€œBut one of the really big things for me is the values, teamwork and integrity. They really stick out for me and they sit; they align with my own values as well. And when I look at things like what the wellbeing ladies do, you know all over Christmas, all the amazing things they put on for all the staff, when I look at feedback that we get both personally and individually! โ€œ

Why would you recommend PFAS?

โ€œI feel that the way PFAS look after their staff is key to your wellbeing, your health and wellbeing, your work life balance and everything. I would definitely recommend people to come to PFAS.

You know, I’ve got a lady that left us in December that has decided to come back to us and she’s going to be joining us in a few weeks time, you know, which I was absolutely devastated to lose that particular functional assessor, but they’re back with us. So clearly something worked and clearly they were left with a very good taste in their mouth.โ€

Whatโ€™s your top tip for joining PFAS?

โ€œYes, it’s a challenging role, i.e. a HP or a functional assessor role, but my personal tip on that is to remain open to the changes, and what I mean by open is yes, professional, polite, friendly all the time, but I mean by open having that relationship and communication dialogue with me, as the potential line manager.

And to keep feeding back where you’re at and understanding yourselves that you can’t suffer in silence!โ€
